Brunetti (City Square)

214 Flinders Lane
Melbourne, VIC
3000

We found ourselves at Brunetti one muggy afternoon, not for their fabulous cakes, which have been the centrepiece for many a birthday celebration, but rather for some much-needed gelato to fight the heat.

Situated away from the main section, Brunetti has a reasonable sized selection of gelatos on offer. Most of them were pretty generic, but our eyes were caught by the Nutella and Bread, and Sour Cherry and Vanilla flavours.

Sour Cherry and Vanilla/Bread and Nutella ($4.5, small cup)

We got a small cup ($4.5) to share, which had two scoops of ice cream piled up nice and tall. We realised belatedly that both of the flavours we chose were vanilla based, so between fruity bursts of cherry and chunks of Nutella (we couldn’t find any bread), we were essentially eating plain vanilla gelato. Not that either of us had a problem with it, for it was the smoothest and creamiest gelato we’ve had in a while.

Rating: 14/20 – smooth and creamy

  1. I love the sound of the sour cherry, but really I want the pistachio gelato I spotted in your photo! :P
